Virtual Machines & Consoles
Operate QEMU VMs and LXC containers and use browser-based Virtual KVM securely.
Guest inventory
Overview and Virtual Machines show the live inventory reported by connected Agents, including Site, node, VM/CT ID, running state, allocation and utilisation.
Open a guest to access Overview, Manage, Snapshots, Backups and Console. Actions are shown only when the current Site role permits them.
Supported management actions
- Start, shutdown, reboot and force-stop operations.
- CPU and memory updates where supported.
- Disk expansion and supported disk additions.
- Network adapter add/update/remove workflows.
- ISO mount/eject operations.
- QEMU Guest Agent filesystem TRIM where available.
Virtual KVM
Virtual KVM opens the Proxmox guest console inside Portal through a short-lived authenticated relay. Proxmox TCP 8006 remains private.
- Fit to window or 1:1 scrolling display modes.
- Expand and browser full-screen controls.
- View-only mode.
- Ctrl+Alt+Del and function-key controls.
- Clipboard text can be typed into the remote guest as keystrokes.
Optional Windows Remote Desktop
For supported QEMU Windows VMs, Portal can optionally provide a private browser RDP session through the same outbound Agent model.
- Windows must support acting as an RDP host (for example Pro, Enterprise, Education or Server editions rather than Home).
- Remote Desktop must be enabled inside Windows and the Remote Desktop service must be listening.
- QEMU Guest Agent should be installed and running so Portal can discover the guest network address.
- TCP 3389 does not need to be published to the internet; the HSVE Agent connects to the VM internally.
